July - August 2007

This contemporary classic was first seen on TV starring Helen Mirren and Colin Welland and Feelgood’s 2001 Manchester Evening News Award-nominated production was brought back by popular demand in 2007.

Set in the countryside during the Second World War this deceptively simple tale combines comedy and tragedy in a gripping tale of seven youngsters as they play, tease, argue and chase a squirrel.
The audience followed the kids as they roamed through the woods exploring their friendships and loyalties.  However, that sunny summer day came to a tragic and spectacular climax as innocence tumbled down amid the flames of a spectacular burning shed!

Reviews:

“The cast deserve awards for their sheer physicality: running through the trees, fighting, arguing, rolling on wet grass and mud.” - Manchester Evening News

“The outdoor setting… is liberating in terms of movement and direction.  It also gives the audience a greater sense of freedom, but the intimacy between cast and spectators enables viewers to actively participate in the action… For those seeking an exciting alternative to a night of indoor theatre, this performance more than lives up to its company’s name.” - The Metro

“With Clegg’s honed direction, a cast of seasoned Feelgood regulars and a perfect setting… expect a vivid evocation of one of Potter’s finest works.” - The Metro
